Ecclesia LucisSOLFI

Valhalla Forge

Valhalla Forge’s work concerns stewardship, formation, and community service. It is a separate organization from SOLFI / Ecclesia Lucis, with its own governance, membership, programs, and funds.

Learning to carry responsibility

Mentorship and disciplined practice can help someone acquire a skill, exercise judgment, and become dependable in work that affects others. The time and attention this requires are central concerns of formation.

Useful work also needs conditions that allow it to continue: people who know how to do it, resources that are cared for, and clear responsibilities. Questions about those conditions connect the Forge’s practical interests with the philosophy presented on this site.

Work and resources

An enterprise must be able to support its work. Decisions about revenue, costs, and the use of a surplus should account for the people who contribute and for the purpose the enterprise is meant to serve.

Stewardship includes making those responsibilities clear enough that someone can be held accountable for them.

Who provides a program matters

Martial-arts training offers familiar examples of learning through practice, correction, and sustained effort. Training, scholarships, equipment, and mentorship, however, belong to the organizations that actually provide them.

Alliance Jiu-Jitsu Juneau, Forge of Light Foundation, Evolution Lodge No. 9, Valhalla Forge, and SOLFI / Ecclesia Lucis have distinct roles. Before enrolling, contributing, or offering support, check which organization is responsible for the activity.
