We are interested in how faith shapes the way we live with other people: the attention we give our families, the work we undertake, and the responsibilities we accept. Our study and spiritual practice return often to those ordinary questions.

Our understanding of faith
Christian tradition is central to our spiritual life. We understand communion as belonging to the nature of God, and creation as a gift in which we participate. Neoplatonic and Hermetic thought also inform our study of creation and the relationship between inward formation and outward conduct.
These ideas ask something of us. Care for creation includes the people we encounter, the places we inhabit, and the consequences of what we make and use.
Work and the use of money
Much of a person’s life is spent working. That makes work a serious concern for a church: what it asks of people, what they learn through it, and how they are treated.
We want commerce to support worthwhile work and the people who do it. Profit can pay wages, maintain equipment, teach a skill, and help an enterprise survive a difficult year. Decisions about its use should remain answerable to the purpose of the work and to those affected by it.
Our community
SOLFI is a small, family-rooted community. We are still developing our shared life, and we welcome questions about what we believe and how we hope to put it into practice.
Valhalla Forge is a separate organization with related interests in stewardship, formation, and service. It has its own governance, membership, programs, and funds.
